MOC: Average finished steel price in China down slightly

On January 28, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced that during last week (Jan. 20-26) the overall average finished steel price in China decreased by 0.1 percent week on week.

In the given week, the average prices of 12 mm rebar and 10 mm common medium plates were down 0.3 and 0.1 percent week on week respectively.

In the week ending January 26, the average price of minerals in China declined 1.6 percent compared to the previous week. In particular, the average prices of iron ore and copper ore were down 1.9 percent and 0.7 percent respectively, while the average prices of lead ore, tin ore and antimony ore remained stable, all week on week. Meanwhile, the average price of zinc ore was up 0.5 percent week on week.

In the given week, the average price of non-ferrous metals in China was down 0.5 percent compared to the previous week. The average price of nickel (Ni >= 99.2%) was down one percent  week on week.

In addition, in the week in question the average price of energy in China was down 1.2 percent week on week. The average price of metallurgical coke remained stable compared with the previous week, while the average price of crude oil was up 0.5 percent week on week.
