Nucor resumes DRI production at Louisiana plant

Thursday, 30 April 2020 11:25:56 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

On April 25, US steel producer Nucor resumed production operations at its 2.5 million mt direct reduced iron (DRI) plant in Louisiana.

The facility was halted on April 2 in response to the deteriorating market conditions and amid the nationwide stay-at-home orders. “We are maintaining production operations sufficient to meet our customers' ongoing needs,” the company noted at its official statement.

In the meantime, Nucor's DRI plant in Trinidad and Tobago remains idled since March 30. The annual capacity of the latter is 2 million mt.
