Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports up 67.4 percent in May

Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports amounted to 497,895 mt in May this year, increasing by 19.3 percent compared to April and up 67.4 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of these imports in May was $114.14 million, increasing by 20.8 percent month on month and up 18.3 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in May amounted to 315,157 mt, down 24.6 percent on month-on-month basis and rising by 41.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In the given month, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $153.54 million, decreasing by 27.9 percent month on month and down 1.9 percent year on year.
