Poland-based JSW posts higher sales revenues for Q1

Poland-based coking coal producer Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa SA (JSW) has announced its financial and operational results for the first quarter this year.

In the given quarter, the company reported a net profit of PLN 1.27 billion ($302.75 million), up by 0.8 percent quarter on quarter. In the first quarter, JSW’s sales revenues totaled PLN 4.46 billion ($1.06 billion), up by 7.4 percent quarter on quarter, while its EBITDA was PLN 1.96 billion ($467.17 million), up by 1.2 percent year on year.

Revenues from coal sales in the first three months were 11 percent higher quarter on quarter, reaching PLN 2.72 billion ($648.15 million), as a result of a consistently implemented trading strategy and higher Australian coal prices.

In the given period, JSW’s coal production amounted to 3.4 million mt and its coke production came to 800,000 mt.
