Poland-based JSW’s coal output and sales increase in Q3

Poland-based coking coal producer Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa SA (JSW) has announced its operational results for the third quarter of this year.

In the third quarter this year, JSW’s total coal output totaled 3.43 million mt, up by 3.3 percent compared to the previous quarter and up 0.2 percent compared to the third quarter in 2022, while its total coke production was 780,000 mt, decreasing by 8.2 percent both quarter on quarter and year on year. The company’s coking coal production in the given quarter amounted to 2.64 million mt, decreasing by 2.2 percent compared to the previous quarter and down 6.7 percent year on year.

In the given quarter, JSW’s total coal sales were at 3.49 million mt, rising by 11.5 percent compared to the second quarter and increasing by seven percent year on year, while its total coke sales amounted to 700,000 mt, falling by 20.4 percent compared to the previous quarter and down by 13.5 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The company’s total coking coal sales amounted to 2.65 million mt, up by 0.3 percent quarter on quarter and down by 1.1 percent year on year. Meanwhile, JSW’s internal sales in the third quarter totaled 1.07 million mt, down by 6.1 percent compared to the second quarter and down by 6.9 percent compared to the third quarter of 2022.

The average total coke contract price in sales by JSW in the third quarter this year fell by 20 percent compared to the previous quarter.
