Service center shipments in US decline in February while increasing in Canada

According to a report from the Metals Service Center Institute, the decline of shipments from 2015 levels slowed somewhat in February for steel in the United States and actual increased slightly for steel in Canada. Inventory positions improved slightly in both the US and Canada.

In February, US service center steel shipments decreased by 4.6 percent from February 2015. Steel product inventories decreased 20.6 percent from February a year ago.

Meanwhile, Canadian service center shipments of steel products for the month increased by 2.0 percent from February 2015. Steel product inventories decreased 21.6 percent from February a year ago.
