The Russian steel producer Severstal has issued its production results for the financial year 2008. The figures include the consolidated production data (net of intercompany sales) of all Russia-based and overseas facilities of Severstal.
According to the company release, in 2008 Severstal produced 19.2 million metric tons of crude steel - up ten percent, 1.5 million metric tons of coking coal concentrate - down 36 percent, 173,946 metric tons of coking coal - down 25 percent, 4.68 million metric tons of iron ore - up nine percent (including a one percent increase in iron ore pellet production to 4.2 million metric tons), all compared to 2007.
In addition, in 2008 Severstal saw a 20 percent increase in its semi-finished steel products output to 2.18 million metric tons and an eight percent rise in its rolled steel products output to 14.3 million metric tons. Moreover, in 2008 the company produced 6.3 million metric tons of hot rolled strips and plates - up seven percent, 2.367 million metric tons of cold rolled sheet - up 24 percent, 1.97 million metric tons of galvanized and other metallic coated sheet - up 34 percent, 236,914 metric tons of color coated sheet - up three percent, and 3.12 million metric tons of long products - down nine percent, all compared to 2007.
