According to the South Korean Iron and Steel Association, in March this year the country's hot rolled stainless steel exports increased in volume, while prices registered declines.
In March, South Korea exported 47,514 mt of hot rolled stainless steel, rising by 26.7 percent compared to February. During the period, the average export price of the product in question was $2,563/mt, down 5.8 percent month on month.
The top recipient of ex-South Korea hot rolled stainless steel products in March was Southeast Asia, with an import volume of 28,283 mt, followed by Taiwan with 12,926 mt. In the given month, Vietnam and Thailand respectively imported 8,353 mt and 6,640 mt of hot rolled stainless steel from South Korea. In March, South Korea exported 9,419 mt of hot rolled stainless steel to European countries, with 5,438 mt delivered to Italy. Meanwhile, exports to northeast Asian countries in March amounted to 9,307 mt, with 3,870 mt and 5,437 mt supplied to Japan and China respectively.
