Steel production in Mexico plummeted 25.1 percent in October

Steel production in Mexico fell 25.1 percent, year-over-year, in October. This is the 22nd consecutive month of contraction, making it the worst recession in Mexican steelmaking history, according to SteelOrbis' analysis of data from the national statistics office Inegi.

The Basic Iron and Steel Industry includes the steel complexes and the manufacturing of primary slabs in Mexico.

In the January-October period, production decreased by 31.2 percent, the worst drop in 15 years for the same period.
