Steel service center shipments drop in April in US and Canada

According to the Metals Service Center Institute, the decline of shipments from 2015 levels continued, although at a modestly lower pace, in both the United States and Canada in April. Inventory levels have been adjusted again to reflect the current slowdown.

In April 2016, US service center steel shipments decreased by 6.3 percent from April 2015. Steel product inventories decreased 19.3 percent from April a year ago.

Meanwhile, Canadian service center shipments of steel products decreased in April by 12.9 percent from April 2015. Steel product inventories decreased 20.7 percent from April a year ago.
