In August this year, the value of Taiwan's iron and steel exports increased by 9.6 percent year on year but decreased by 0.9 percent compared to July to $1.59 billion, according to the preliminary statistics issued by Taiwan's Ministry of Finance. In the given month, the country's iron and steel import value totaled $1.04 billion, up 34.1 percent year on year and increasing by 3.1 percent month on month.
In the first eight months of this year, the value of Taiwan's iron and steel exports was up 6.7 percent to $12.36 billion, while the value of the country's imports of iron and steel totaled $7.85 billion, up 3.4 percent, both on year-on year basis.
