Indian steel producer Tata Steel Limited has reported a consolidated net loss of INR 61.96 billion ($743.84 million) for the second quarter (July-September) of the fiscal year 2023-24, compared to a net consolidated profit of INR 6.33 billion ($76.10 million) in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year, according to a company statement on Thursday, November 2.
The company reported total revenues of INR 556.81 billion ($6.68 billion) in the given period, a decline of seven percent year on year.
The company said that it has assessed the potential impact of the electric arc furnace route (EAF)-based decarbonisation project and restructuring at Tata Steel UK (TSUK).
Subsequently, it has undertaken an impairment charge of INR 125.6 billion ($1.50 billion) in stand-alone financial statements and INR 27.46 billion ($330 million) in consolidated financial statements.
Tata Steel has continued to flag going concerns for its European business citing inadequate cash flow and liquidity.
The company had taken a charge towards restructuring and other provisions of INR 36.1 billion ($433.61 million) in consolidated financial statements.
