Kocaeli-based Turkish steel wire and rope producer Çelik Halat ve Tel Sanayii Inc. has announced its financial results for the first nine months of the current year.
The company registered a net loss of TRY 45.2 million ($1.58 million) in the January-September period of the year, compared to a net profit of TRY 25.48 million recorded in the same period of the previous year, while its sales revenues decreased by 7.5 percent year on year to TRY 995,86 million ($34.9 million).
In the given period, Çelik Halat ve Tel Sanayii’s total steel rope sales value amounted to TRY 427.27 million ($15.0 million), rising by two percent, its galvanized wire sales increased marginally to TRY 58.69 million ($2.06 million), while its spring wire sales rose by nine percent to TRY 201.57 million ($7.06 million), all on year-on-year basis.
According to the company’s statement, in the first nine months of the year Çelik Halat ve Tel Sanayii’s domestic sales moved up by 5.1 percent, while its overseas sales decreased by 20.3 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the same period, the company’s domestic sales contributed 57.4 percent of its overall sales, from 50.5 percent recorded in the same period of 2021, while the share of its overseas sales fell to 42.6 percent, from 49.5 percent in the first nine months of the previous year.
The company stated that the global economic crisis and stagnation have shrunk the market, negatively affecting Çelik Halat ve Tel Sanayii’s operations. Nevertheless, the company expects raw material prices to drop and the instability of freight rates to ease in the coming period.
The company’s main destination for overseas sales was Europe with it constituting 82.0 percent of total exports. Europe was followed by America with eight percent, Asia with six percent and Africa with four percent.
