Turkey’s ferroalloy imports down 6.7 percent in Jan-Aug

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 8.7 percent compared to the previous month and were down 27.25 percent compared to August 2011, totaling 37,718 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $51.6 million, increasing by 3.45 percent as compared to July and down 35.45 percent year on year.

In the first eight months of 2012, Turkey's ferroalloy imports totaled 279,746 metric tons, decreasing 6.7 percent compared to January-August 2011.

Imports from Ukraine in August this year amounted to 14,073 metric tons, falling by 15.4 percent, while imports from Russia in August amounted to 6,328 mt, up 33 percent, both compared to the same month of 2011. Meanwhile, India exported 5,832 mt of ferroalloys to Turkey in August, up 4.7 percent year on year.
