Turkey’s industrial production index stagnant in H1

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) on August 31, Turkey's calendar adjusted monthly industrial production index decreased by 12 percent in June compared to the same month of last year, while the seasonal and calendar adjusted monthly industrial production index declined by 0.4 percent compared to the previous month.

The data show the impact of the global economic downturn on industrial production in Turkey. In November 2008 the seasonal and calendar adjusted monthly industrial production index fell sharply to 103.4 points, from 112.3 points recorded in October 2008. The index has not seen any major improvement since then.
