Global crude steel production in February this year decreased by 3.3 percent year on year and fell by 5.7 percent month on month to 120.41 million metric tons, according to the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
In February, crude steel output in China amounted to 58.5 million mt, down by four percent, with 8.3 million mt produced by Japan, down one percent, 6.9 million mt produced by India, decreasing by 3.6 percent, and 5.3 million mt produced by South Korea, increasing by five percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis.
In February, Germany's output was 3.3 million mt, declining by 4.3 percent year on year, Italy's crude steel output totaled 1.9 million mt, down 2.1 percent year on year, and France's crude steel output amounted to 1.3 million mt, increasing by 2.6 percent year on year.
Turkey produced 2.3 million metric tons of crude steel in February, with a four percent increase year on year. Iran's crude steel production in the given month amounted to 1.3 million mt, down 3.4 percent year on year. In February, Russia produced 5.6 million mt, down by 2.7 percent year on year, and Ukraine produced 1.9 million mt, rising 24.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In the given month, crude steel output in the US totaled 6.3 million mt, up by 2.9 percent, while Mexico produced 1.3 million mt of crude steel, down by 10.3 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Crude steel output in Brazil in February this year amounted to 2.4 million mt, down 8.7 percent year on year.
