In December last year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 1.02 million mt, increasing by 37 percent compared to November and down 13.3 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports increased by 48.9 percent month on month to $103 million and up 3.3 compared to December 2017.
In 2018, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 10.74 million mt, down 1.75 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 1.5 percent to $995.4 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 4,633,344 mt, down 0.64 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 1,899,988 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Russia in the given period amounted to 1,219,183 mt.
