In October this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports amounted to 671,916 metric tons, down by 35.2 percent compared to September and by 13.3 percent year on year, according to the preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these imports totaled $70.67 million, decreasing by 38.6 percent compared to the previous month and by 26.5 percent year on year.
In the January-October period, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 8,813,681 mt, up 21.9 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 21.0 percent to $1.09 billion, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey’s largest iron ore import source was Brazil, with 4,694,655 mt. Brazil was followed by Ukraine with 1,094,683 mt and Sweden with 989,927 mt.
