In August this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 860,974 mt, down 7.4 percent month on month and rising by 47.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports increased by 5.3 percent to $80.7 million compared to the previous month and was up 98.9 percent year on year.
In the first eight months of the current year, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 7.41 million mt, up eight percent, while the value of these imports increased by 57 percent to $697.77 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 3,090,507, down 10.93 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 1,323,261 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Ukraine in the given period amounted to 958,575.
