On August 20, Karabuk-based Turkish long steel producer Kardemir announced the completion of procedures for the supply of rail tracks to Syrian Railways General Establishment.

According to the statement made by Kardemir, the company will supply 36,000 metric tons of UIC-60(860-O)900A grade rail tracks to Syrian Railways. The shipment of the tracks will be completed within 600 calendar days. However, a spokeswoman for Kardemir said that the Syrian side expects the shipment to be completed earlier. The financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, on July 30 Kardemir announced that it signed an agreement with Iranian State Railways to supply 30,000 metric tons of rail tracks.

The plant's rolling mill has an annual production capacity of 400,000-450,000 metric tons of sections or rail tracks.
