UK basic metal output index up 0.7 percent in May from April

According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in May this year the UK's seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing increased by 1.7 percent compared to May last year and was down by 0.5 percent compared to April. According to the ONS, in the March- May period of this year, the country’s seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing rose by 1.3 percent quarter on quarter and increased by 0.6 percent compared to the same quarter of last year.
 
Meanwhile, in May the production index for basic metals and metal products increased by 0.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was up 0.7 percent compared to April. In the March-May period of this year, the production index for basic metals and metal products increased by 0.3 percent compared to the previous quarter and decreased by 2.4 percent compared to the same quarter of 2015.
