UK basic metal output index up slightly in Q1

According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in March this year the UK's seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing fell by 0.9 percent compared with March 2011 and was up 0.9 percent compared to the previous month.

In the first quarter of this year, the UK's seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing fell 0.8 percent compared to the first quarter of 2011.

Meanwhile, in the UK the seasonally adjusted production index of basic metal and metal products rose by 0.7 percent in March this year compared with March 2011 and was up 0.9 percent compared to the previous month. In the first quarter of the year, the UK's seasonally adjusted production index of basic metal and metal products rose 0.3 percent compared to the first quarter of 2011.
