Ukraine sees 22.3 percent rise in pig iron output in H1

In June this year, Ukraine’s pig iron output amounted to 628,600 mt, down by 3.8 percent month on month and up by 29.4 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Ukrainian Steel Association Ukrmetallurgprom.

In the given month, the country’s crude steel production declined by 0.4 percent compared to the previous month and rose by 68.4 percent year on year to 734,700 mt, while its rolled steel production came to 571,700 mt, dropping by four percent month on month and moving up by 45.8 percent from the same month last year.

Meanwhile, in the first half of the current year, Ukraine produced 3.47 million mt of pig iron, up by 22.3 percent year on year, while its crude steel production in the given period totaled 3.87 million, growing by 37.0 percent, and rolled steel production was 3.14 million mt, rising by 32.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
