In May this year, Ukraine’s pig iron output amounted to 653,100 mt, up by 9.4 percent month on month and by 8.3 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Ukrainian Steel Association Ukrmetallurgprom.
In the given month, the country’s crude steel production increased by 3.2 percent compared to the previous month and by 26.5 percent year on year to 737,600 mt, while its rolled steel production came to 594,900 mt, rising by 1.8 percent month on month and by 26.5 percent from the same month last year.
Meanwhile, in the first five months of the current year, Ukraine produced 2.84 million mt of pig iron, up by 20.8 percent year on year, while its crude steel production in the given period totaled 3.14 million, moving up by 31.2 percent, and rolled steel production was 2.57 million mt, rising by 29.5 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
