According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in March of the current year the producer price index (PPI) for the UK manufacturing industry increased by two month on month and recorded a 6.5 percent year-on-year decline. In the 12 months up to March, the output price index of manufactured products for the domestic market decreased 0.9 percent year on year.
In March, the UK's PPI for the basic metal industry rose by 2.8 percent from the previous month and was down 7.1 percent year on year. In the given month, the PPI for domestic manufacture of metal products, except machinery, increased 0.2 percent compared to February and was up 0.6 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the imported metals sector, in March of the current year the input price index of imported basic iron and steel, ferroalloys, tube and pipes in the UK increased by 6.3 percent month on month and was down 6.1 percent compared to March 2015, while the imported other basic metal product input price index increased by 3.2 percent compared to the previous month and was down 10.4 percent year on year.
