US iron and steel scrap exports decline slightly in April

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 969,409 mt in April, which represents a 2.6 percent decline month-on-month and a 16.9 percent decrease year-on-year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in April, with 261,488 mt, which is up 5.5 percent month-on-month but down 14.0 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in April include: Korea, with 125,816 mt; India, with 121,774 mt; Taiwan, with 97,979 mt; and Mexico, with 80,632 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $269.7 million in April, a 6.7 percent increase compared to March but a 29.3 percent decrease compared to April 2015.
