Venezuela’s Ferrominera resumes HBI output following halt in late May

Wednesday, 19 October 2016 23:49:21 (GMT+3)   |   Sao Paulo

Venezuela’s state-run HBI producer CVG Ferrominera Orinoco (FMO) resumed output this week following a maintenance halt initiated in late May this year, the company said.

As it resumed production, the HBI producer expects to reach a 2,200 mt/day output, which supplies both the domestic and the export markets.

Prior to resuming production, FMO said it needed to treat its water, steam and inert gas plants, in addition to producing the reformed gas to run its reactor.

According to Santiago Colón, FMO’s production superintendent, the company’s HBI plant needed to repair its No. 2 and No. 3 steam reformers. Each steam reformer accounts for 27 percent of the plant’s capacity.
