Venezuela’s state-run steelmaker Sidor should produce some 2 million mt of steel by the end of the year, a government official estimated this week.
Interviewed by state-run television VTV, Venezuela’s basics industry minister, Juan Arias, said Sidor should provide feedstock to other industries considered equally important for the country.
Sidor has resumed billet and crude steel production following months of halt due to electricity issues.
On July 18, the company announced it resumed operations at its wire rod rolling mill to produce semi-finished steel.
