Vietnam’s steel output up 24.3 percent in 2017

In December last year, Vietnam’s steel production reached 1.98 million mt, up 26.8 percent, while the country’s steel sales increased by 25.2 percent to 1.86 million mt, both compared to the same month of 2016, as announced by the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA).

In the full year of 2017, Vietnam’s steel production rose by 24.3 percent year on year to 21.06 million mt. In the given year, Vietnam’s steel sales reached nearly 18 million mt, rising by 20.7 percent compared to 2016, with exports increasing by more than 34 percent and imports decreasing by 14 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
