Zaporizhstal halts its blast furnace No. 5 for capital repair

Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal has announced that it has stopped its blast furnace No.5 on capital repair with duration of 45 days. The capital repair in question will cost about UAH 107 million.

The main goals of the capital repair include restoration of wholeness of the furnace shell and its geometry, reconditioning of the furnace cooling system, replacement of the bell-less top charging device (BZU), replacement of the refractory lining, planned repair of the furnace dust exhausting system. 

The repair works will allow to lower heat losses of the furnace that will result in decreasing of coke consumption during hot metal production.
