Brazilian HRC export price declines in two weeks

Tuesday, 11 June 2024 09:39:43 (GMT+3)   |   Sao Paulo

The Brazilian producers are negotiating HRC exports with their South American clients in a reference price of $850/mt, against $860/mt two weeks ago, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades.

In the Brazilian domestic market, HRC of the basic commercial grades is sold by producers, in medium to large volumes, at BRL 5,300/mt ($985/mt), stable in BRL from four weeks ago, ex-works, no taxes included, still with indications that planned price rises were temporarily cancelled, while the effect of the recently approved system of quotas for import and higher import taxes remains under evaluation by players.

In May, Brazil exported 26,800 mt and imported 60,100 mt of HRC.

The exports were destined to South American countries (21,400 mt at $743/mt), the US (4,900 mt at $693/mt) and Egypt (500 mt at $405/mt), shipped by Usiminas (18,100 mt at $752/mt), CSN (4,800 mt at $689/mt), ArcelorMittal (2,700 mt at $673/mt) and Gerdau (1,200 mt at $637/mt).

The imports were from China (59,700 mt at $595/mt), South Korea (300 mt at $814/mt) and Vietnam (100 mt at $696/mt).
