This week, even though business activities continued to remain limited, the sole producer and flat steel spot traders in Romania have chosen to keep their flat steel price positions stable. According to market players, even with extra discounts offered to serious purchasers, trade is still minimal and stock levels are fairly high. In the meantime, a representative of the sole producer stated that the current slowdown in the local market which is causing the prognosis to be unfavorable is due to the approaching summer season.
“As the market is calm and the summer vacation contributes to a slowdown in demand, we have not changed our prices as of yet,” a representative of the sole producer told SteelOrbis.
As a result, prices for domestic origin hot rolled coil (HRC) and cold rolled coil (CRC) in Romania have stabilized at €615-620/mt ex-works and €715-720/mt ex-works respectively.
Likewise, Romanian traders' pricing for hot rolled sheet (HRS) and cold rolled sheet (CRS) have remained the same week on week at €740-765/mt ex-warehouse and CRS prices are stable at €860-900/mt ex-warehouse.
On the other hand, coated steel prices from the sole producer have remained stable week on week for HDG and PPGI at €785-790/mt ex-works and €1,065-1,070/mt ex-works, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the import segment, according to sources, the Ukrainian supplier has decreased offers for HRC to around €585/mt DAP, from €600/mt DAP. Similarly, HRC offers from Turkey have also decreased slightly over the past week, with FOB prices at $580-600/mt and freight costs of roughly €25/mt, resulting in a price to Romania of around €560-575/mt CFR.
