Considering the ongoing slower trade in the domestic market, this week Romanian flat steel traders have chosen to reduce both hot rolled sheet (HRS) and cold rolled sheet (CRS) offers. However, Romania's sole flat steel producer, which has commented that its current business activities are stable though slightly slow compared to previous months, has decided to keep its prices stable week on week.
“We currently do not observe any notable pricing adjustments, despite rumors of price increases at other EU flat steel mills. Unfortunately, we do not anticipate price increases for the time being because demand still does not support our levels,” a representative of the sole producer told SteelOrbis.
In the spot market, traders have quoted HRS prices at €740-765/mt ex-warehouse, down from €750-780/mt ex-warehouse, and CRS prices at €860-900/mt ex-warehouse, down from €900-950/mt ex-warehouse last week.
In contrast, the sole flat steel producer has kept hot rolled coil (HRC) and cold rolled coils (CRC) prices stable week on week at €615-620/mt ex-works and €715-720/mt ex-works, respectively. The mill's domestic prices for HDG and PPGI are stable week on week at 785-790/mt ex-works and €1,065-1,070/mt ex-works, respectively.
Furthermore, in the import segment, HRC offers from Turkey have continued to decline this week, with FOB prices at approximately $580-600/mt and freight costs at around €25/mt, resulting in a price to Romania at around €560-580/mt CFR, down from €570-585/mt CFR in previous weeks. Also, according to sources, Ukraine has offered HRC at €600/mt DAP, while HRS and CRS sheets have been offered at €650/mt DAP and €730-740/mt DAP, respectively. In addition, Macedonia and Bulgaria are offering quarto plates at €735/mt, delivered to Romania.
