Mexican HRC prices see minor slip

Mexican HRC prices fell US$6/mt in the last two weeks to set at US$733/mt ex-mill.

Small variations in the prices are in line with the overall market trend, sources say, although intensifying competition for the investments from automakers in the country could affect the trend for the better.

"The new automotive plants in the country led to a ‘wave’ of Japanese investments in the auto parts sector, scheduled in at least US$1.5 billion in the short term in the Bajio región,” said one source.
