Despite expectations of higher prices from the sole Romanian flat steel producer, it has chosen to keep offers stable week on week mainly because of the drop seen in flat steel spot prices and weak demand domestically. Meanwhile, Romanian traders, who had been experiencing somewhat better business activity, have continued to keep prices stable compared to last week, but, according to market participants, demand this week has been slow due to the proximity of the holiday season.
As a result, the domestic producer’s hot rolled coil (HRC) and cold rolled coil (CRC) are stable week on week at €665-670/mt ex-works and €795/mt ex-works, respectively. Moreover, in the coated steel segment, the producer’s domestic prices for HDG and PPGI are also stable at €825/mt ex-works and €1,115/mt ex-works, respectively.
Romanian traders, on the other hand, who had decreased prices the previous week, have also kept their prices unchanged from last week. Accordingly, prices for hot rolled sheets (HRS) and cold rolled sheets (CRS) are stable at €760-780/mt ex-warehouse and €845-850/mt ex-warehouse, respectively.
Furthermore, sources claim that import offers are also unchanged week on week. Consequently, Bulgaria has offered heavy plate at about €740-760/mt DAP, while Italy has offered plate at about €760/mt DAP.
