Considering that spot demand has been slow, this week Romanian flat steel traders have chosen to reduce hot rolled sheet (HRS) offers, while keeping cold rolled sheet (CRS) offers stable. In the meantime, Romania's sole flat steel producer, which has commented that its current business activities are stable, has decided to keep prices stable week on week also.
“Since demand is moderate, we keep prices stable. However, since customers will be receiving some imports and demand may decline over the coming period, there will probably need to be an adjustment later,” a representative of the sole producer told SteelOrbis
In the spot market, traders have quoted HRS prices at €750-780/mt ex-warehouse, down from €790-820/mt ex-warehouse last week, while CRS prices have remained stable at €900-950/mt ex-warehouse.
In contrast, the sole flat steel producer has kept hot rolled coil (HRC) prices stable week on week at €685-690/mt ex-works. Cold rolled coils (CRC) are still only provided by the producer upon request by regular clients, the same as in previous weeks.
The mill's domestic prices for HDG and PPGI are stable week on week at €785-790/mt ex-works and €1,085-1,090/mt ex-works, respectively.
Furthermore, in the import segment, HRC offers from Turkey have continued to decline this week, with FOB prices at approximately $620-630/mt and freight costs of around €25/mt, resulting in a price to Romania at around €595-605/mt CFR, down from €600-610/mt CFR in previous weeks. Comparable declines have been observed in the sheet market. Ukraine has lowered its offers to Romania for HRS and CRS by €30/mt and €20–25/mt week on week, respectively, to €670/mt DAP and €750–755/mt DAP. In addition, Italy has maintained offers for S235 quality quarto plates at €835/mt DAP, while South Korean suppliers have offered plates at roughly €710/mt CIF.
