US import rebar prices move upward again

Rebar prices in the global market are still mostly strong, and as such, US import rebar offers have moved upward again in the last two weeks. According to sources, import buyers are booking for Q1 arrival despite the higher quotations, with the understanding that US domestic rebar prices are on the cusp of trending upward as well.

This week, US import rebar offers from Egypt are up $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt or $20/nt), with prices now ranging from $39.00-$40.00 cwt. ($860-$882/mt or $780-$800/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, while offers from Algeria are also up $1.00 cwt. to the range of $38.00-$39.00 cwt. ($838-$860/mt or $760-$780/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports. Offers from Mexico, meanwhile, are up around $0.50 cwt. ($11/mt or $10/nt) into the range of $39.00-$40.00 cwt. ($860-$882/mt or $780-$800/nt) DDP Houston.
