Scrap prices in the US have officially settled, sources note, adding that prices landed “a little bit of everywhere depending on the mill and the seller.”
For example, whereas some sellers had success in negotiating prices at sideways for certain grades, others sold at levels below December settled prices.
Sources in the Southeast have confirmed that prices in that region settled at sideways for HMS and P&S, down $10/gt for shred, and down $20/gt for primes.
In Pittsburgh, prices generally settled at sideways to down $10/gt for HMS, at down $10/gt for shred and P&S, and down $30/gt for primes. Moving West into Ohio, prices in the Cleveland area settled at sideways for HMS and P&S, down $10/gt for shred, and down $30/gt for primes.
The most commmonly heard Ohio Valley settled scrap prices are listed in the chart below, however, a handful of transactions outside of these ranges have been heard within the marketplace.
