Acerinox’s long steel subsidiary ceases operations due to strike

Wednesday, 05 June 2024 10:45:09 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Aceros Roldán, a subsidiary of Spanish stainless steel producer Acerinox S.A., has temporarily suspended its operations due to the ongoing strike at the parent company’s Los Barrios plant, according to local media reports.

Specialized in long stainless steel production, the Roldán plant normally procures its billet from the Los Barrios plant. However, it was unable to continue producing different products such as bars, wire rod and angles since it had run out of billets and was not receiving any deliveries from the Los Barrios due to the strike. Even though it requested billet supplies from other factories in the UK, Italy and the US, these deliveries were delayed and the plant had to temporarily stop its production.

As SteelOrbis reported previously, Acerinox announced that it ceased production activity at its Bahru Stainless plant in Malaysia on May 31.
