Germany-based ArcelorMittal Bremen, a subsidiary of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, has announced that it has completed modernization works at its continuous casting plant. As part of the modernization project, a new secondary cooling system was installed at the continuous casting plant to further improve the quality of the slabs produced at the plant. One of the two strands of the plant was successfully commissioned in mid-November and the commissioning of the other strand has recently been completed.
In addition, the company also started operations at its blast furnace No. 2 at the beginning of the current month, optimizing the dedusting system which is an important step in terms of energy efficiency and environmental protection.
ArcelorMittal Bremen’s CEO Reiner Blaschek stated that during the current year the company has invested around €70 million to improve energy efficiency and environmental protection in order to contribute to sustainable steel production.
