Luxembourg-headquartered global steelmaker ArcelorMittal continues to supply carbon-reduced steel under the XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel brand to various customers to promote a sustainable future, with its subsidiary ArcelorMittal Europe - Flat Products announcing that it will supply XCarb® steel to German distribution company Knauf Interfere Group.
The production of XCarb® steel uses at least 75 percent recycled scrap, resulting in a reduction of around 70 percent in carbon emissions.
“The collaboration with Knauf Interfer is an important step for us to achieve our sustainability goals. By 2030, we want to save 35 percent of carbon emissions in Europe and be carbon neutral globally by 2050,” Rainer Böse, chief marketing officer at ArcelorMittal Europe - Flat Products, said.
SteelOrbis previously reported that ArcelorMittal lately signed an agreement with German precision steel pipe producer Wiederholt for the supply of XCarb® steel.
