Argentina's crude steel production in July reached 355,900 mt, increasing 14.3 percent compared to the previous month and dropping 32.7 percent from the same month last year, reported the Center for Industrial Steel (CIS).
Argentina's iron ore production in July totaled 206,800 mt, increasing 5.8 percent compared to June but still down 49.5 percent compared to July of last year.
Crude steel accumulated production of Argentina in the first seven months of the year amounts to 2,014,700 mt or 40.6 percent less than figures seen last year during the same period of time. Iron ore accumulated production from January to July reached 1,406,400 mt, which represents a 48.7 percent drop when compared to the same months of last year.
Argentina's HRC production in July amounted to 318,600 mt, increasing 12.9 percent when compared to June and declining 36.6 percent when compared to July of last year.
CRC production in July reached 114,000 mt, dropping 2.5 percent when compared to the previous month and 18.3 percent lower than July 2008.
The CIS also explained that the upward production trend seen the last two months may indicate a turnaround of the global economy, while cautioning that production levels are still too low to consider the recovery complete. Also in its report, the CIS once more expressed concern over what it sees as unfair business practices by Chinese exporters.
