Brazil's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) in May this year increased by 3.2 percent from the previous month and fell by 18 percent year on year to 175,309 units, according to the Brazilian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea). Meanwhile, in the January-May period of this year, the country's motor vehicle output (excluding agricultural vehicles) declined by 24.3 percent year on year to 834,054 units.
New motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) in Brazil totaled 167,489 units in May this year, up 2.8 percent compared to April and decreasing by 21.3 percent year on year. 13.4 percent of this figure consisted of imported new vehicles. In the first five months, the country's new motor vehicle registrations (excluding agricultural vehicles) decreased by 26.6 percent year on year to 811,739 units. 14.4 percent of this figure consisted of imported new vehicles.
Meanwhile, Brazil's motor vehicle exports in May this year (excluding agricultural vehicles) totaled 46,895 units, increasing by 23.9 percent compared to the previous month and up 15 percent year on year. In the January-May period of this year, Brazil's motor vehicle exports totaled 183,253 units, up 21.8 percent year on year.
