UK-based steelmaker British Steel has announced that it has completed its summer maintenance and improvement program at its Teesside beam mill. The operations at the mill have resumed.
The maintenance works worth £1.4 million included refractory repairs within the mill's walking beam furnace, and a realign and internal renewals for the furnace discharge roller table.
In addition, the company plans to build two electric arc furnaces worth £1.25 billion in total, one each at its Scunthorpe and Teesside plants, to decarbonize its operations, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
