Canadian new vehicle sales down 12.6 percent in July

According to Statistics Canada, new motor vehicle sales in July 2023 totaled 147,401 units, reflecting a decrease of 12.6 percent month-on-month and an increase of 9.5 percent year-on-year. By value, Canadian vehicle sales in July totaled $8.15 billion, compared to $9.25 billion in June and $6.91 billion in July 2022.

Canadian sales of vehicles manufactured in North America totaled 103,599 units in July at a value of $5.92 billion, while sales of vehicles manufactured overseas totaled 43,802 units at a value of $2.23 billion.
