Canadian new vehicle sales up 2.9 percent in September

According to Statistics Canada, new motor vehicle sales in September 2023 totaled 163,279 units, reflecting an increase of 2.9 percent month-on-month and an increase of 16.5 percent year-on-year. By value, Canadian vehicle sales in September totaled $9.07 billion, compared to $8.82 billion in July and $7.36 billion in September 2022.

Canadian sales of vehicles manufactured in North America totaled 114,786 units in September at a value of $6.62 billion, while sales of vehicles manufactured overseas totaled 48,493 units at a value of $2.45 billion.
