Canadian new vehicle sales down 1.4 percent in April

According to Statistics Canada, new motor vehicle sales in April 2023 totaled 148,815 units, reflecting a decrease of 1.4 percent month-on-month but an increase of 4.1 percent year-on-year. By value, Canadian vehicle sales in April totaled $8.02 billion, compared to $8.28 billion in March and $6.99 billion in April 2022.

Canadian sales of vehicles manufactured in North America totaled 106,974 units in April at a value of $5.88 billion, while sales of vehicles manufactured overseas totaled 41,841 units at a value of $2.14 billion.
