China’s iron ore imports up 6.1 percent in January-April

In April this year, China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate amounted to 83.92 million mt, down 2.16 percent month on month and increasing by 4.6 percent year on year, while in the January-April period this year China’s imports of iron ore and iron ore concentrate totaled 325.44 million mt, up 6.1 percent year on year, as announced by the Chinese customs authorities on May 8.

In April this year, China imported 1.10 million mt of finished steel, down 13.4 percent month on month and decreasing by 8.3 percent year on year. In the January-April period, China’s imports of finished steel totaled 4.23 million mt, declining by 4.6 percent year on year.
