Chinese excavator manufacturers’ sales down 2.2 percent in May

In May, excavator sales of 25 major Chinese excavator manufacturing enterprises amounted to 18,897 units, decreasing by 2.2 percent year on year, according to the data issued by China Construction Machinery Association.

In particular, excavator sales in the domestic market decreased by 5.9 percent year on year, while sales in the export market rose by 31.9 percent year on year. The overall year-on-year decline in sales in May was the first decrease after 34 months of increases and followed the strong consumption seen in the first quarter this year.

In the January-May period of the current year, the excavator sales of the 25 major manufacturers in question amounted to 122,000 units, rising by 15.2 percent year on year.
