According to the data released by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), as of the end of October (October 31) this year the composite steel price index (CSPI) for the Chinese domestic market was at 80.35 points, up 4.79 points or 6.34 percent month on month, while increasing by 20.91 points or 35.18 percent on year-on-year basis.
At the end of October, the CSPI long steel index was at 79.27 points, up 5.08 points or 6.85 percent month on month and increasing by 18.06 points or 29.50 percent year on year, while the CSPI flat steel index stood at 83.39 points, up 4.91 points or 6.26 percent month on month and increasing by 25.19 points or 43.28 percent year on year.
As of the end of October this year, among the eight main steel products monitored by the CISA, prices of high-speed wire rod, rebar, angles, medium plate, hot rolled coil (HRC), cold rolled sheet (CRS), seamless pipe and hot dip galvanized (HDG) increased by RMB 205/mt ($29.75/mt), RMB 191/mt ($27.72/mt), RMB 94/mt ($13.64/mt), RMB 167/mt ($24.23/mt), RMB 206/mt ($29.90/mt), RMB 252/mt ($36.57/mt), RMB 223/mt ($32.37/mt) and RMB 130/mt ($18.87/mt), all compared to price levels at the end of September of the current year.
